At Connect Health & Community our values underpin what we do and how we do it, and one of our core values is respect. It means we’re committed to treating all our clients, staff and community with care, dignity and understanding. This includes showing respect for LGBTIQ people. For us this means being inclusive, supporting equal rights and equal recognition before the law. This is why we support marriage equality. We strongly believe that a fair, equitable and inclusive community has significant and positive health benefits.
We also know that discrimination causes harm and negatively impacts people and we will support any change that removes inequality, stigma or unfairness.
In support of this, we are committed to providing quality and accessible healthcare for all of our community we want to acknowledge that this may be a difficult time for many people, either because it affects them personally or because family, friends or work-mates are affected, including by some comments in the media.
If you are adversely impacted, we encourage you to reach out for help or support to www.rainbownetwork.com.au or www.minus18.org.au (if you are under 18) or www.lgbtihealth.org.auas it is a national body and may be able to assist you. We are happy to add our voice to those of many other significant Australian organisations in support of change to our existing marriage laws.
